Preserve Your Timber
To care for your Australian hardwood cutting board, always hand wash it after use with warm, soapy water, avoiding prolonged water exposure and dishwashers. Dry it immediately and apply food-safe oil like grapeseed or mineral oil periodically to prevent warping and cracking.
Cleaning
- Hand wash with warm, soapy water after each use.
- Avoid soaking or submerging the board in water or dishwasher
- Gently scrub with a sponge or soft brush to remove food debris.
Drying
- Pat the board dry with a clean towel and let it air dry completely.
- Dry flat, standing upright or on its edge.
- Avoid storing while damp.
Oiling (Maintenance)
- Apply food-safe oil (grapeseed, mineral oil, or other recommended oils)
- Beeswax or a liquid beeswax blend is also a popular choice.
- Reapply until the wood absorbs the oil, then wipe off any excess.
- It is recommended applying oil monthly or when the board appears dry.
Prevent Warping & Cracking
- Avoid prolonged exposure to heat or dryness.
- Store the board flat to help prevent warping.
- Make sure the board is completely dry before storing.
